The YouTube videos have a higher resolution then the app videos...kinda grainy and hard to watch. Overall decent app though!

One of the best apps for chess opening.
This is a great on the spot reference.
Great presentations. Easy to follow. Well paced. Excellent communication skills for complex topics. Thank you very much. Price is incredibly reasonable
I started chess later in life, so I tend to have little time or patience for bad learning tools. This is a comprehensive set of videos made by a dynamic and easy to watch GM about all the "foundation" openings. Dereque clearly loves the game and obviously knows it very well. Unlike droning GMs from Eastern Europe starting all their sentences with "obviously now..." when things are not obvious, etc., Dereque talks with phrases like "watch out for" and "here we notice that..." This friendly video package is worthwhile and entertaining. Just get it already :)
Ive downloaded dozens of apps. Ive never had one freeze my phone for nearly ten minutes that I could not override or even restart my phone to circumvent. I wish I could get my money back.
Bug
Brief, clear review of 1st 10 moves or so. Well done.
Im a picky app person who happens to love chess. This one is well worth the money! The most helpful opening guide that Ive found - great to not have to sit there and try to follow rabbit trails found in opening books... Videos load pretty easily which is nice too.
I was a bit skeptical about watching "movies" about openings initially, but it is really well done. All variations are explained and the focus is kept on the general ideas and concepts. I have tried to learn openings with books for year and this is by far the best method for me! A little suggestion for improvement would be to classify the short movies (eg. open/close categories) or put them in a logical order for learning. In any case, you cant go wrong for that price!
Great library of openings! 5 stars.
This app is very well organized and each video provides easy access to a detailed evaluation of its respective opening and various positions within. Thank you so much for creating this app.
Through this app, Im learning new things about chess and can now play competitively at the 1600 level (the first strong player level in the chess pro app).
Terrific way to learn openings and their variations. Very simple and easy to use interface. Highly recommend.
Be aware, sound wont work with phone on vibrate/silent.
This is the best way to study openings that I have found. I have been studying on and off for the last two years. This app has a really slick interface and the videos are in depth.
Only bad thing is you cant turn the sound effects off in the opening book, and their email doesnt work...
Is it too out of date? Last update was 2013. Perhaps not iOS compatible any more? I will change my review if I am able to download at some point.
Thats it. I cant say how good the content is because the sound doesnt work. I guess I can look at the videos online. I dont mind supporting good content but I am annoyed to have a useless app. I have the iPhone 6 by the way.
Great videos, clear concise instruction on opening lines, and presentation. The app works great when reading from a book as you can walk through a game from the opening position to follow along. Very useful.
